1) Section Width – “175”

“175” is the width of the tire in millimeters. In this example, the tire’s width is 175mm.

2) Aspect Ratio – “65”

“65” is the height of the sidewall. It is a percentage of the section width. In this example, it means that the sidewall’s height is 40 percent of the tire’s width

3) Tire construction – “R”

“R” indicates radial tire construction.

4) Wheel diameter – “14”

“14” is the wheel diameter in inches. In this example, the tire’s wheel diameter is 14in.

Other markings are “P” and “LT”

“P” used to indicate tires for passenger cars (e.g. P265/70R15). “LT” used to indicate tires for light truck vehicles (e.g. LT235/75R15).
